The rear fuselage section was simply a monocoque construction which incorporated the secondary fuel tank, just behind the pilot position. This tank was covered in a leather outer skin (a prize much sought after by scavengers, for shoe leather, at the close of WW2!) The tank was shielded from the service cabling in event of rupture, by a thin fire wall riveted over a sectional former, allowing services access.
